Brisbane / Magandjin post-metal & sludge heavyweights SLOWCUT are set to release a 2-track EP titled Flesh this Friday 18th July. Don’t be fooled by the fact there’s only two tracks, this 19-minute release packs huge punches that punctuate slower sections of melancholy, reflection, and morose.

For the unfamiliar, SLOWCUT draw heavy influence from some of the biggest names in post-metal whilst still managing to forge their own sound. Comparisons to Amenra are correct yet an oversimplification that overlooks SLOWCUT‘s cross-pollination with sounds coming from Australia’s thriving sludge and doom scene that they fit so well within.
The two tracks, threaded and martyred, explore confronting themes both tied to the mutilation of flesh on top of an oppressive sonic foundation. Whilst threaded methodically teases out a catchy riff in between giving the listener time to breathe, there’s no such respite as matyred only builds intensity over its ten minute duration.

Flesh will also be released on vinyl and the first chance to grab it will be at their EP release show at Crowbar Brisbane on the 10th August.
